Thank you for choosing a Goldair MicathermicHeater. This Goldair Heater has been designed and manufactured to high standards of engineering and with proper useand care, as described in  this leaflet,will give you years of useful service. Please read these instructionscarefully.

1. Use only the voltage specified on therating label of the appliance.

2. Keep all objects at least 1 meter from the front,sides and rear of the appliance. Do not place appliance close to radiant heatsource.

3. Do not operate in areas where petrol,paint or other flammable liquids are used or stored.

4. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter anyventilation or exhaust opening, as this may cause an electric shock, fire ordamage to the appliance. Do not sit on the appliance.

5. Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord,plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in anymanner. Return to a qualified electrical person for examination, electricalservice or repair.

6. This appliance is intended for householduse only and not for commercial or industrial use.

7. Use this appliance only as described in this manual.Any other use  is not  recommended by the manufacturer and may causefire, electrical shock or injury.

8. The common cause of overheating is deposits of dustor fluff in the appliance. Ensure these deposits are removed regularly byunplugging the appliance and vacuum cleaning the air vents and grills.

9. Do not use abrasive cleaning products on this appliance.Clean with a damp cloth (not wet) rinsed in hot soapy water only. Always removeplug from the mains supply before cleaning.

10. Do not connect the appliance to mainssupply until completely assembled and adjusted.

11. Switch off and use handles providedwhen moving.

12. Do not operate with cord set coiled up as a heatbuild up is likely, which could be sufficient to become a hazard.

13. The use of an extension cord, power board, orexternal timer is not recommended with this unit.

14. Do not remove plug from power socketuntil the appliance has been switched off.

15. Do not remove plug from power socket bypulling cord; always grip plug.

16. Always unplug appliance when not inuse.

17. Do not locate the heater directly belowany power socket during operation.

18. Do not twist, kink or wrap the cord around theappliance, as  this may cause  the insulation to weaken and split. Always ensure that all cord has beenremoved from any cord storage area and is unrolled before use.

19. This appliance is not intended for use by persons(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities orlack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised or have been giveninstruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible fortheir safety..

20. Do not use this appliance in the immediate surroundsof a bath, a shower, or a swimming pool or other liquids. The appliance mustnot be immersed in any liquids.

21. When the appliance has been unpacked, check it fortransport damage and ensure all parts have been delivered. If parts are missingor the appliance has been damaged, contact the Goldair Customer Services Team.(refer to details on back page)

22. If your appliance does not work, or is not workingproperly, contact the place of purchase or the Goldair Customer Services Team.(refer to details on back page). Repair work on the  appliance by unqualified persons can causeserious risk to the user.

23. There are no user serviceable partsinstalled in the unit.

24. Do not place the unit in wardrobes orother enclosed spaces as this may cause fire hazards.

25. This unit is not supposed to be used in or aroundlocations where foodstuffs, works of art or delicate articles of science, etcare stored.

26. Indoor use only.

27. Children should be supervised to ensurethat they do not play with the appliance.

28. Ensure heater is on a flat, stable,heat-resistant surface.

 

 

Overview of your MicathermicHeater

Micathermic heating uses both radiant andconvection heating technology. Natural convection currents distribute the heat evenlythroughout the room, while radiant heat from the heating surface warms peopleand objects in the room. This heater is equipped with two heat settings and anadjustable thermostat.

 



 

Operating your MicathermicHeater

Alwayschoose a safe location for the heater, keeping in mind the safety precautionsoutlined.  Ensure all packaging has beenremoved from the unit before use. This appliance requires no installation, itshould be used solely as a portable appliance.

WARNING:Keep all objects at least 1 meter from the front, sides and rear of theappliance.

OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS 

Turn the heater on by pressing the On/Offbutton Press the Low or High heat button to select your desired setting. Turnthe thermostat dial clockwise 360 degrees to the maximum temperature level.When the desired temperature is reached, turn the thermostat dialcounter-clockwise until the heater “clicks” off. 

NOTE:

The heater will now automatically maintainthe temperature at the level you have now set.

TIMER

If using the timer you can set this byturning the dial clockwise to the desired length of time (0-12 hours). If youdo not wish to use the timer, turn the dial clockwise 360 degrees to the “O”position for override and the heater will continue to run until the On/Offbutton is depressed.

Note: When the heater is turned on for the first time, it may release aslight, odour or smoke. This odour or smoke is a normal occurrence caused bythe initial heating of the internal heating elements and should not occuragain.

SAFETYDEVICE

This appliance has two protection devices:The first device will automatically turn the appliance off if the appliance isnot in the appropriate operating position. The second device, automaticallydisconnects & reconnects the appliance at a preset temperature. 

CAREAND CLEANING

The heater requires regular cleaning toensure trouble free operation: Unplug the heater from the mains supply beforecleaning. Ensure that the heater has been allowed to cool down completelybefore cleaning. Use a damp cloth (not wet) to wipe the exterior of the heaterto remove dust and dirt. Never use solutions such as benzene, thinners orpolishing agents. In order to get the maximum heat, the reflector must be keptclean. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and fluff from around the grills.Ensure the heater is dry before plugging back into the mains supply.

Do not attempt to dismantle the MicathermicHeater. There are no user serviceable parts. For service or repair, contact anauthorised electrical service technician.

CAUTION

The Micathermic Heater generates heatduring use. Proper precautions must be taken to prevent the risk of burns,scalds, fires or other damage to persons.

Do not use this heater with a programmer,timer, separate remote-control system or any other device that switches theheater on automatically.

IMPORTANT! NEVER COVER THIS HEATER!

PROOF OF PURCHASE

To receive warranty retain receipt as proofof purchase. (Refer to back of booklet).

Two Year Warranty

Your Goldair product has been inspected andtested and is guaranteed subject to the following for a period of two yearsfrom the date of purchase against defects in workmanship and materials. Duringthis period, such defects will be rectified by repair or replacement of the productpurchased. Your product contains no user serviceable components and thiswarranty becomes invalid if in our opinion the product has been misused,abused, incorrectly installed, tampered with, connected to an electrical supplynot corresponding with the name plate specification, or subjected to powersurges. The warranty does not include any labour or other associated expensethat may be involved in removal or installation of the product. Normal wear andtear is expressly excluded. If your Goldair product fails to operatesatisfactorily, please return it to the retailer from whom it was purchased. Toobtain a repair or replacement product under this warranty, you will need toproduce satisfactory evidence of date of purchase. The completed warranty andpurchase receipt must be presented with the product. The warranty should befilled out at the time of purchase. It is in your interest to make sure this isdone.

If the product is to be replaced (cannot berepaired) then that replacement will be of the same or similar product oraccessory excluding packaging, instruction card etc. Where a replacementproduct is supplied, this shall be guaranteed for the balance of the originalwarranty period. Any model that is no longer available will be replaced by amodel of a value and with such features as we consider appropriate in thecircumstances. Goldair is not responsible for freight forwarding charges,losses or damage in transit. If service is required after the warranty periodhas expired, the product should be returned toa qualified electricaltechnician. Service outside of the warranty period will be at your cost.Consumers Guarantee Act (1993). In accordance with the above act consumers areadvised that: The manufacturer does not undertake that repair facilities andparts are necessarily available for this product. If any of the provisions ofthe foregoing are contrary to any relevant legislation, then that provisionshall be deemed to be excluded from the warranty and the rest of the provisionswill continue to apply.
